Blackscreen after starting Gw
Hello,
ich have the following problem:
Always, when i try to play gw my monitor shows me:"No Signal" and my Computer didnt do anything.
Only the Coolers are still running but nothing more.
My System:
Intel Dual Core E7300 ~2,66GHz each
Graphics: geforce 9800GTX+ 512MB
Mainboard: MSI P35 Neo
DDR: OCZ 2GB
current PSU: LC Power 6550 GP2 550W
12v1 16A
12v2 18A
1x 6pin (Graphics need 2x 6pins)
So i have the newest Drivers and the Game is also installed new.
Here i got some Checks from DxDiag and Everest (unfort. in german).
i could need some help to start my gw, cause my monitor always shows ne signal and then my computer didnt do anything.

What is the temperature of your system? GW is more heat sensitive then any other game I've played before; also what is the manufacturer of your 9800gtx and your Power Supply as well? The problem may be that your PSU is underpowered.

so the computer shows absolutely no response? not even alt-tab?
if you can alt-tab, press alt-enter when the game blacks out. this forces windowed mode. maybe your GW is setting your resolution too high.

Sounds odd, but that old monitor of yours supports 75Hz at 1280x1024 - it's currently running at 60, so try raising it to 75. This has been known to solve problems with this (not-very-good) monitor.
(Interesting that Windows seems to think your C2D E7300 is a Xeon - not pertinent, though )

If what I have bolded is true, then what is happening is windows runs normaly in a 2D mode, then when GW starts (a 3D application) the graphics card fails due to lack of power, since the GPU needs 2 6pin power connectors and you have 1.
Solution: get a power supply that can properly run that card OR a 4 pin to 6 pin adapter. The adapter is obviously going to be less expensive but it will still need its own rail from the PSU. If you are working the power supply to hard it will burn out in a few months.

I'd say that, as Moriz said, the game's resolution is at a setting that your monitor can't support. Is this a new video card and/or monitor? Were you previously running the game at a resolution of more than 1280x1024?
or..
As Zamial said, you don't have the power properly connected to the video card.

Tomorrow ill receive a new PSU, this one will get 2x 6pin adapters (standart from the psu).
So if the game then wont start, this should be curious.
Btw, my Monitor normally works perfect with 1280x1024.
I can play Far Cry 2 at the same resolution and every option set to Ultra.
There is no Lag afther 5 hours playing...
so well, cant guess, whats the problem, if it isnt the psu.
Ill let you know tomorow, when my new psu arrives.

I'm sure your monitor works fine at 1280x1024, but the question is, is GW set to run at 1280x1024? Did you try what Moriz suggested?

alt+tab or any other bottons wont work.
There is no response from my computer.
I had a geforce 6800 before and it always worked very well, there wasnt any problem.
So i also tried to confugure the gw.exe with the nvidia settings etc. but there isnt any chance the make the game run.
If my new psu will change those problems, what ill hope, ill let you know.
But im not going to expect too much from this may possible solution.
Well the idea only playing with 1 core sounds good to me, ill try that, maybe it works.
Btw my monitor has a max. resolution of 1280x1024. so if ill try any other resolution im not able to set this and my monior changes back to 1280x1024 automatically.
So there is no chance, that the resolution is the problem.
So, ill let you know what hapens, when i try it tomorrow. i hope it works.

I have been reading a number of posts and it seems like a lot of people using a 9800 GTX+ are having problems with GW.
Before you start replacing items, I would try and borrow a different video card from a friend, like a Radeon 4800 series card, to see if the problem clears up.

Did you do a fresh install of an original GW cd? It doesn't sound like a corrupted gw.dat file, but if your PSU plays Far Cry 2 just fine then you shouldn't have any trouble with GW either. :/

I hopethat it will work then.
Ill let you know if it works^.^
Edit: Got a new 9800 GTX+ and now its working!
